According to a breaking news, an explosion has occurred at the Federal College of Education, Kano. Eye witnesses said the explosion went off at about 2pm, and was followed by sporadic gun shots. The exact cause of the explosion is still unclear. However the spokesperson for the military Joint Task Force, Ikechukwu Eze, confirmed the attack. Mr. Eze said government troops have arrived at the school. Details later...

At least 15 people have been confirmed dead – 13 students and 2 armed attacked while 47 people were reportedly injured. Police Commissioner Adenerele Shinaba said the attackers were shot dead during the gun duel.
“What happened was that we detected some suspicious movements of some people and we trailed them only for them to open fire around the school resulting to them gaining entry into the premises and started throwing bombs.”
Two AK47 rifles were recovered from the attackers. Meanwhile security has been beefed in the Kano metropolis as armed soldiers patrol the streets, manning key areas. The area has been deserted as residents and students scampered for safety.
Eyewitness said armed men invaded the institution after killing a security personnel at the gate. The attackers later threw improvised explosives at students and shot those who tried to escape.
