First British Ebola victim William Pooley landed at the Royal Free Hospital today August 24 to commence treatment after contracting the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone. The 29-year-old nurse arrived in an isolation sack and was given police escort to the London hospital for isolation ward treatment.
Pooley, had been volunteering at the ebola centre in Kenema for just five weeks before contracting the virus. He is the only Briton to be have ever been infected by ebola outside the laboratory.
The only other British case was in 1976, when scientist Geoffrey Platt pricked himself with a needle contaminated with the virus. Morer pics after cut…
