Sports presenter with Channels Television Toyin Ibitoye was at the General Assembly Meeting of the Nigerian Football Association (NFF) which held in Abuja yesterday August 26. He witnessed first hand the brouhaha that went down at the meeting just as I brought to you here. Here’s the latest update:
NFF Chairman Aminu Maigari, Chris Greene who were arrested by the State Security Service yesterday are still under police custody. Top source say Aminu and Chris Greene have been to the Special Anti Robbery Squad.
Meanwhile all State Football Association Chairmen, secretaries, reps of leagues, coaches & Players'Union held another congress at De Bentley Hotel last night where fresh election was held.
Christopher Giwa, the chairman of Nigeria Professional League club side Giwa Football Club, was elected as the new president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). He polled 27 votes to defeat his challenger former vice president Mike Umeh who got two votes in an election where 29 out of 44 members participated in the voting exercise.
Chris Giwa and his vice, Obinna Ogba have promised to resume at NFF Secretariat as the new leaders of Nigerian football at 11am today.
